The Knights of Columbus Council #1368 is a not-for-profit organization that strives to support our local charities based on the Knights principles of Charity, Unity, Patriotism, and Fraternity. We conduct several fundraisers throughout the year to help fund our charitable endeavors.
Fundraisers & charitabe endeavors include:
- Pro-Life support given by collecting baby items throughout the month of January for in our baby crib in the church vestibule for the Right to Life agency.
- Fish Frys are held on designated Fridays during Lent, to help raise funds for council expenses.
- Dances are sponsored throughout the year. Our Valentines Dance has become an annual tradition. Thanksgiving Dance on the Wednesday Eve before Thanksgiving proves to be an alumni-reunion of sorts, bringing many visiting Garnett alumni back to town.
- The annual Golf Tournament is held each June at the Garnett Country Club, and is another event we use to meet our council's expenses.
- The annual Autumn Blaze Smokeoff is held every year on the third weekend of October. It is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society, the largest BBQ society in the world. This has proven to be an event where all our Brother Knights get involved and truly shine. It is an awesome event that is growing each year and is a festival where you can enjoy world class barbecue. This competition is open to the public, for all to participate. We even have a seperate contest for all Knights councils from across the country to compete for the coveted KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS TRAVELLING TROPHY. If you can get a team together, we would love to meet you and have you in Garnett, KS the 3rd weekend in October for sharing of great food and fellowship. In addition, a Pumpkin Festival is held in conjunction with the BBQ Festival which provides all kinds of fun for the youngsters including a bounce-house, petting zoo and various games.
- Each October, we support the mentally handicapped through our Tootsie Roll Sales after Masses.
- 12 Months of Christmas Project is an effort modeled after similar programs around the country. Council 1368 will be accepting applications from the elderly or families on fixed incomes througout Anderson County in need of home repair and assisting them with preparing for winter weather.
- We are planning a Casino Night in the future, though it has not been an annual event in the past. Our 1st Casino Night raised much needed money and drew supporters from miles around.
